Moving Day

On August 16, Nathan and I drove 6 hours to from Martinsville to Athens, Ohio. Grandma & Papa came along to help. We saw some beautiful mountains in VA & WV, tunnels, and trains (of course). We arrived just in time for the walk through & closing.

The next day, the movers delivered all our things. It was exciting to see the possessions we had been without for over six weeks. Unfortunately, Nathan was sick (a lingering virus) and spent most of the day sleeping in a cubby under the steps (think: Harry Potter I).

Grandma wasn't doing too well either, suffering from pink eye and a fever. The next day, I took them both to the doctor. The viruses we knew they had turned bad - it was time for antibiotics, fluids and rest. I spent the rest of the day pumping juice, meds, checking fevers, and wrapping blankets. Not much unpacking got done.

Grandma & Papa left the next day -they need to get fully recovered before the Alaska cruise on Wednesday. Last report is that Grandma is much better & Papa mangaged to avoid catching any new germs.

Nathan is slowly recovering, but still not up to full speed. He's sad about staying inside and not being able to make new friends. We did meet the neighbor boys (ages 6, 10, and 12) and caught up with Ames friends Eva, Amelia, and Nicco at the park.

Quick update

August has been busy. Nathan & I had a great trip to Richmond, followed by a SLOW moving Amtrak trip to Annapolis, MD. Nathan didn't mind the slow train - he kept his face against the window for over 6 hours. I found it very tiring, however. I definitely prefer other methods of travel.

While in MD, we took a side trip to reviewed Beach and had a blast playing in the ocean!

After returning to Virginia, we had an excellent outing to Fairy Stone State Park with cousins Owen & Elizabeth. We found many treasurer, including some usual rocks.

A few words for the dedicated reader: my enthusiasm for blogging in waning. I think I'll find another way to share pictures...
